My Photonic Ship | A Quantum Workshop on November 29-30
Title: My Photonic Ship - Exploring Quantum Superposition through Game Design
Dates: November 29-30, 2025
Location: University of Gdańsk
Target group: High school and university students
Group size: 15-25 participants per day
Instructor: Dr. Abuzer Yakaryilmaz, University of Latvia
My Photonic Ship is a creative, hands-on workshop introducing participants to the fascinating world of quantum through coding and interactive exploration. No prior knowledge of quantum physics is required - just a curiosity to learn and basic experience with Python programming.
The workshop will guide participants through:
● Simulated photon experiments to explore the idea of quantum superposition
● Mathematical and philosophical discussions to understand quantum concepts in different contexts
● Hands-on programming with Python and Pygame to develop a simple computer game
● Extending the game with quantum superposition, where the game only works if the principle is applied correctly
Pre-assignment
Before joining the workshop, participants will complete a short pre-assignment (1–2 hours): designing a simple game in Python using the Pygame library. This ensures that everyone is familiar with Pygame’s basic functions and ready to build upon them during the workshop.
Additional Information
● The workshop will be offered twice (Nov 29 and Nov 30) for two different groups.
● Participation is free of charge, but registration is required.
PLEASE REGISTER VIA E-MAIL ADRESS: adrian.kolodziejski@ug.edu.pl
● Each group will include 15-25 participants.
Join us to experience how quantum ideas can come alive through experiments, coding, and creativity!
